Ignition cylinder

Postby dskbirch » Thu Jun 14, 2007 2:50 pm

I have a '71 Ghia and am in the process of replacing the wiring harness to the ignition. While doing this I noticed that the spring was not returning the key from the start position in the ignition cylinder- I am referring to the mechanical portion used to lock the steering column not the electrical portion.

Does anyone have experience with this piece?
Am I correct in thinking it is the spring?
Is it possible to open it up and replace the spring?
I have had a look on the usual online parts sites and have not been able to locate a replacement part...thoughts on where I might get one?

Many thanks,
David

Im not sure you can replace just part of the locking/tumbling part of the switch. but check out www.midamericamotorworks.com they sell the whole thing.
will work for rear and midengine cars!
