original 1963 vw beetle

Postby berties63vw » Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:09 pm

I am planning on selling my 1963 vw beetle that I bought new in 1963 when I was 18 years old. It's the only car I've ever owned. I have no clue as to how much it is worth and would like to get some ideas. I no longer have the original front seats, as I had them replaced with bigger seats with headrests, but I do have the original rear seat. It's been switched over to 12 volt and this is my 3rd engine. The car was repainted about 10 years ago and the body is still in good condition and the car runs great with about 272K miles on it. I don't know if it's worth more because of only one owner, but I'd like to get some idea. I'm only selling it because I need more cargo room and air conditioning. It's been a good buddy to me all these years and parting with it will be sad.

Its hard to give an exact number from the picture and the description. I would think since you are in California you are looking at 5500 to 7500. There is a real chance to could beat the high estimate as well.

Whatever you do, do not use the KBB to price this car. I would talk to an antique car dealer to get the pricing on this car as it is now over 30 years old. The car has been customized and that might hurt the value a little bit, but overall I would say its a great looking car. Good luck!
