Wobbly mirror on a '72 Super

Postby crash » Wed Jul 19, 2006 3:42 pm

Ok, I feel pretty stupid even asking this but i'm a new '72 super beetle owner and my side mirror wobbles when i'm driving. How can i tighten that up? do i have to take it apart or is there an easier way to adjust that?

If I were you I would scare it stiff!

And if that doesn't work try driving on smoother roads.

And if you can't make that happen, take an adjustable end wrench and find the chrome part that attaches to the door where the mirror is. The "nut" looks more like a decoration, but using an adjustable end wrench you can tighten where the mirror mounts to the car.

If that doesn't work see if you can mount your girlfriend or wife. Sometimes all you've got to do is ask! It's worth a try!

Hey thanks

I first tried scaring it stiff like you suggested and all it did was say "wobble, wobble" So plan two... smoother roads - not possible in the pothole capital of the world so that left plan three....

And lo-and-behold that did the trick! Those darn decorative nuts I tell ya - they sure are camouflaged.

thanks for the advice on part four as well, but alas i must need a larger adjustable end wrench cuz she said no.
