'60 Bug HELP!

Postby LadyBug » Fri May 29, 2009 9:21 am

I have a '60 Bug that has been garaged for quite some time. I start it up and take it out once in a blue moon. Well, I recently got it started again and got clean gas into it and want to get it on the road and then start some cosmetic work on it.
So here is my question - anyone help please!
I am not a VW expert and don't work on the car myself, but I have found a local shop that "works only on VW's" and I want to take the car in for a "going over" to make sure that the car is road safe - first and foremost - since it has sat for so long. So what would I make sure the shop looks at?
Obviously brakes, clutch & oil change - but what else mechanically should I make sure that they are checking on?
Any input anyone can give would be really appreciated. I don't know this shop and their quality, and don't want to go in there totally clueless.
Thanks!
