Porsche In COLOR!

Postby johnsnellx » Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:32 pm

THese are paint job number one and beyond. The reducer for the clear was a fast-acting reducer and it left a few dry spots on the car (clear formed a dry surface before the next pass with the gun=dry spots). So even though it was almost perfect I'm doing it again. What a PAIN! And expensive. AND I've tried to paint it twice since then and the new paint (the color) is reacting to the old sealer that's on the car marking it curdle Back at it today. (just like every waking hour for the last 3 days--EVERY waking hr except to eat a burned pizza or something). I primered the whole car again with a primer that takes a hardner (rather than just a reducer) to form a protective layer on the car. Then I shouldn't have problems with the new paint dissolving the old paint. Whew. More to come since today I'll paint it again for real!

This shot above sorta shows some paint wrinkling on the fender.

what did you wipe it down with after wet sanding and right before spraying? that could be your issue, also did you use a urathane or enamel sealer? remember that ureathane paints dont like enamels or even worse, lacqures

I used wax and greese remover. It turned out that the sealer I used before the color coat the first time I sprayed it was a 1k sealer (didn't have hardner, just thinner). My new paint (with thinnner and hardner) was "melting" the old sealer (even though it was a layer down!). It was soaking through. Finally worked about 70 hrs and got it resprayed last night (Wednesday). here are some shots!

More coming...as soon as I get time.
